본 연구는 서양 미술사의 개념적 기원과 그 제국주의적 관점을 비판적으로 분석한다. 에드워드 사이드의 오리엔탈리즘 이론을 중심으로, 서양 중심적 미술사 서술의 문제점과 동양에 대한 인식론적 왜곡을 탐구한다. 미술사의 학제적 특성과 문화적 맥락을 고찰하며, 선사 미술부터 현대에 이르는 미술사 연구의 방법론적 접근을 비판적으로 검토한다.

This study critically analyzes the conceptual origins and imperialist perspectives of Western art history. Focusing on Edward Said's theory of Orientalism, it explores the problematic aspects of Western-centric art historical narratives and epistemological distortions of the Orient. The research examines the interdisciplinary nature of art history and its cultural contexts, critically reviewing methodological approaches from prehistoric art to contemporary periods.
